Measurement
Data acquisition
Sensors, logging and a browser view, designed and built as one system for the question you actually have.
- Own sensors
- CAN bus data
- Calibrated in a browser
01 / The problem
The instrument was built for someone else
Catalogue instruments measure what the catalogue decided to measure. The channel you need is missing, the range is wrong, or the logger records at the wrong rate and hands you a file nobody can read at the track.
Adapting a general purpose system to a specific question usually costs more time than building the right one.
02 / What we build
What goes into a system
Each part is chosen for the measurement at hand.
The sensor follows the question
The sensor is chosen once we know what has to be measured: pressure, temperature, voltage or a bus signal.
Reading where you need it
A gauge on the dash, a browser page on a laptop or both. The number is legible at speed and in daylight.
Bus data
CAN from the engine management, read and shown alongside your own channels.
Temperature under load
Isolated thermocouple channels for brake pad and caliper temperature, where an ordinary amplifier picks up noise and drifts.
Calibration you control
Scale, calibration, fault window and accepted range are set from the browser over the device's own Wi-Fi.
It stays maintainable
Firmware updates over the air with an encrypted package, so the system can change after it is installed.
03 / Signal path
From the sensor to the reading
Your own sensors and the data already on the car's bus meet in one device, and leave it as something a person can read: a gauge on the dash, a page in a browser.
04 / Calibration
Two points, no cable
Two known points are enough. Put the sensor in each state, press Now, and the device takes the signal it sees at that moment as the calibration point.
Every channel also has a fault window. A signal outside it is reported as a wiring fault, not shown as a number that looks plausible. The accepted range is a third thing: the band inside which the reading is what you wanted.
05 / Technical
What it is made of
| Channels | Defined per system. Pressure, temperature, voltage and CAN have all been built. |
|---|---|
| Bus | CAN, classic 500 kbit/s in the current systems. |
| Temperature | Isolated K type thermocouple channels. |
| Settings | Browser page served by the device over its own Wi-Fi access point. |
| Updates | Over the air, encrypted package. The device refuses an unencrypted one. |
| Enclosure | 3D printed, designed for the mounting position. |
| Power | Vehicle supply, defined per installation. |
06 / Availability
Availability
Measurement systems are built to order, for the installation and the question at hand. There is no catalogue and no price list, because no two of them have been the same.
Tell us what you need to know and where the sensor has to sit. You will get an assessment of what is possible and what it takes.
Ask about it
Describe the measurement, the vehicle or the machine, and the conditions it has to survive.
